Save the Children supports teachers with the Capacity Building Programme in Afghanistan
Save the Children's sponsorship programme, in collaboration with Help the Afghan Child (HTAC) in Sar-e-Pul and Jawzjan provinces, and Just for Afghan Capacity and Knowledge (JACK) in Faryab province, conducted training sessions for 750 schoolteachers and community members on on several topics. The programme focused on enhancing schoolteachers' capacities to provide essential psychosocial support for children and foster an inclusive, safe, and supportive classroom environment for them.
- Four days of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Psychological First Aid (PFA) training for 300 schoolteachers.
- Two days of Literacy Boost and Numeracy Boost training for 150 schoolteachers.
- Two days of inclusive education training for 300 schoolteachers.
Shahid* (34), a schoolteacher participant, stated: "I am happy to join this training; the content is very interesting and useful, especially when participants share their experiences on how to effectively teach children to improve their literacy and numeracy skills. This training supports us, schoolteachers, in enhancing our skills and providing the necessary support for children to learn and grow better. I am thankful to Save the Children's Sponsorship programme for helping our school and supporting teachers' development by providing various training opportunities."
