Cash Support for Kabul’s Most Vulnerable Families
Save the Children is conducting the second round of Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) distribution to 250 households in Kabul in October 2024. Each household received 156 USD (10,700 AFN), totaling $39,000 (2,675,000 AFN) in aid.
This assistance follows an initial cash distribution aimed at covering basic needs for food and non-food items, along with a cash grant provided a month ago to help families establish income-generating activities (IGA). This support specifically targets street-working children in three districts of Kabul, enabling them to attend the Community Children's Centre (CCC) for six months and participate in literacy and numeracy classes.
Ahmad*, 41, a beneficiary, shared, “I am a metal worker living in a rented house with my four daughters, two sons, and my wife. I want to express my gratitude to Save the Children for helping us during this difficult time. This year has been very tough for us, and we faced many problems that seemed impossible to solve. I was losing hope, but Save the Children gave us hope and assistance. Now, when I come home and see the happy faces of my children and that I am able to work again.”
