Expanding Vital Health and Nutrition Services in Sar-e-Pul Province
Save the Children, with funding from the Freeman Foundation, delivers health services in Sar-e-Pul province. Our clinic provides nutrition support to children under five, as well as pregnant and lactating women, through screening and the provision of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), Super Cereal, and necessary medications for their treatment.
In addition, we offer comprehensive mental health and psychosocial support. This includes both individual and group counselling, as well as educational programmes aimed at promoting mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.
Our midwife plays a key role, taking patient histories, screening pregnant and lactating women, overseeing enrolment and discharge, delivering ante-natal and post-natal care, and educating patients on health and family planning. The midwife also conducts regular follow-ups at the centre.
Adding that, our male and female hygiene promoters track the growth of children under two years old, provide health education, follow up on cases of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM), collaborate with other team members, and lead community mobilisation initiatives.
